Will County is part of the greater Chicago Metropolitan Area. Its population is currently estimated to be close to 674,000, which represents an increase of nearly 33% since the 2000 Census. The county is one of the fastest growing areas in the United States. Established in 1836, Will County has its county seat in the city of Joliet. Joliet itself has been one of the fastest growing municipalities (of more than 100,000 residents) in the U.S.
